Northampton and Western, MA is so important to us, and we’re excited to show you where we live! That said, getting married in a more rural area does pose some challenges and we want to do our best to make things easy for you! Please feel free to email us with other questions but here is some general information.

Housing

In order to give people maximum flexibility in terms of places to stay, we have opted not to reserve a block of hotel rooms. There are a variety of Airbnbs and bed-and-breakfast type places as well as more traditional hotels in the area. For traditional hotels, we'd recommend looking into one of the three main hotels in Northampton: the Quality Inn, the Fairfield Inn, and the historic Hotel Northampton. All three of these hotels have the advantage of being walking distance to all the amenities of downtown Northampton (restaurants, bars, etc.) That being said, you could also opt to stay in Hadley, Amherst, or Springfield, but those places are further from the wedding venue and potentially less interesting for local exploration.

One note is that as far as we know, there is no housing option within walking distance of our wedding and reception venue.

Transportation

Getting to Western MA

Planes

Hartford, CT is the closest airport (~40 miles). Albany, NY and Boston are the next closest (~100 miles).

Trains

There is once-daily service directly to Northampton via the Amtrak Vermonter from NYC, DC, and other points along the east coast.

Automobiles

By car, Northampton is approximately 2 hours from Boston, 3 hours from NYC, 18 hours from Grinnell, IA and 44 hours from Portland, OR.

Getting Around Western MA

One important note is that for ease, our ceremony and reception are at the same location, so as long as you have a plan to safely get to and from Look Park on July 27th, you’re all set! If need be, you can park your car at Look Park overnight and get it in the next morning.

Rental Cars

See the FAQ section if you’d be interested in being put in touch with folks interested in splitting a rental car.

Cabs

Lyft and Uber do exist in this area, but are not as reliable as they are in more major cities, so waiting for a ride might take time. There are also some local cab companies (Go Green Cab and Cosmic Cab) - calling ahead to make a reservation is recommended.

Biking

Northampton and the surrounding area has a robust rail-to-trail system. The bike trail goes from Northampton to the ceremony/reception area (~4.5 miles), so if you are feeling adventurous, biking is an option. If you'd like to get a bike, check out Northampton Bicycle or Valley Bike Share.
