We met in college on the ultimate frisbee team in 2008, and we've been together ever since. We've lived together in Iowa, Oregon, and Massachusetts and apart in California and Minnesota (along with stints in New Jersey and New Hampshire). Together we've fostered many cats, cooked countless dinners, gone on many hikes and neighborhood walks, and had fun travelling in the US and abroad. We are excited to get married after 10+ years of being together, and that you will be with us to celebrate!

Engagement Story

We bought Paige's ring in New York City and Hanna's ring online in the summer of 2018, and talked through our ideal engagement scenarios: Paige wanted a more traditional proposal, and Hanna wanted a proposal letter.

We took a vacation to Paige's family home in Maine in August 2018, and got up early one morning, planning to go hiking in the White Mountains in New Hampshire (where Paige had worked for a summer years before, and Hanna had visited her.) Hanna was planning to propose there, so she packed the ring in her backpack and planned out the place and time to do it. Paige had a inkling that this was going to happen, too, so she likewise packed Hanna's ring in her pack.

However, at 5:00 AM when Paige went downstairs to get ready, she discovered a squirrel running around the kitchen. A call to and a visit from the local animal control officer later, and all of a sudden the plans to leave at the crack of dawn and make the drive were foiled. We did some last-minute research, though, and found a closer hike in a place called Caribou Mountain, Maine.

The hike and drive were lovely. On what Hanna thought was the real summit, overlooking the foothills of the White Mountains as they spill over into Maine, she proposed to Paige, and Paige to Hanna. We kept on hiking, found out that there was still more mountain left, and thought it was probably a good metaphor for marriage and life: always more summits to climb. A few months later, on our 10th anniversary, Paige gave Hanna her hand-written proposal letter.
